Accessing the Archives
In researching for this project we primarily searched within the Rare Books and Special Collections provided from the University of British Columbia. We realized what a privilege it was to be able to research in an archive with such precious items in its collections. Without having looked through the collections special archives, much of the information that we are trying to present would be impossible to access. We recognize that it would have been impossible to present the information that was found if we were not given the opportunity to research within these archives
Our goals with this project is to hopefully be able to contribute an addition to what is known to be public knowledge. We would like to try to fill the knowledge gap that was left by Ono. Ono clearly left his mark within the community, however, upon further research on public media outlets like the internet, we were unable to find detailed information on Ono's life. We wanted to create this page as a compilation of Ono's direct or indirect legacy in order to recognize all that he's done for the Japanese-Canadians that were interned in 1942, in doing so, we hope to educate as wide of a range of people as possible.
We hope that through the creation of this website, more of the knowledge gap in the eye of the public can be filled.
